China is definitely worse than the US. Their media and social media is strictly controlled by the state government. They have a giant internet firewall that prevents them from viewing websites outside of China, and a VPN is necessary to look at Youtube, Instagram or Medium.

In the 80's the army opened fire on a student protest in Tiananmen Square and killed hundreds of students. To this day, the government of China still deny this event ever happened.

There are no general elections in China. You have no ability to vote for a party other than the CCP.
