Disagree my friend. We know that a major motivator for mass shooters is herostratic fame. They leave manifestos. They leave video logs. They want a place in history.

We know that it causes copycat shooters. The prime reason why American media insists on displaying the name and face of the shooter is ratings. They way American media in particular treats mass shootings is insane. Treating them like baddass villains in an action movie. Giving them the spotlight.

We know that suicides have a contagion effect. One suicide leads to another leads to another. The same is true for mass shootings.

The public get nothing from knowing the name and face of the shooter. It doesn’t matter who it is.

I thought the way the press treated the shootings in New Zealand was admirable.
