Hah. Just want to make it clear that I HAD this problem many years ago and no longer do. (I started limiting my porn use years ago and personally feel way better).
It watched a large chunk of the interview and it was great.
For me, I don’t necessarily hold “science” up as the beholder of what’s true and what’s false. After all, (let me just slip on my tinfoil hat) mainstream science can be influenced by large industries with huge amounts of money (the porn industry).
Also, it could be the case that science hasn’t found porn to be addictive YET as was the case with video games. And there’s still so much about the human body we don’t know.
Personally, my mental state is consistently far more positive and healthy when I limit porn use, than when I don’t. I have far more energy and motivation when off porn. Who’s to say exactly why this is (it has nothing to do with shame or guilt), but just because current science says Porn is fine, that doesnt mean I’m going change my behavior.
The doctor tells me I don’t have gluten intolerance too, but I feel far better when I don’t consume gluten. If I was to “follow the science” in this case, I would walk around all day feeling like crap. Porn is the same.
I think the message should be “Porn is powerful. Try it, see how you feel and make a choice about whether you want to watch it or not”.
