Hmm, but China is a bit Authoritarian though. They’ve consistently lied about COVID numbers. From my experience, Chinese people are very reluctant to criticize the government at all. And the lockdowns were pretty draconian.

You’re not even allowed to talk about the Tiananmen square massacre. Say what you want about the US, but there are no topics that are strictly forbidden like this. Free speech still exists.
