How I Made $1,200 From A Single Article On Medium

Back in October of last year, while I was walking around the city of Oxford, I had a flurry of ideas that I couldn’t resist putting into a Medium article.

In a single hour, I put my thoughts together into an article and posted it. The article was posted on October 21st, 2021. I received a couple of early comments, then all activity stopped. I assumed that, like usual, that would be it. I forgot all about it and moved on.

Almost 2 whole months later around December 17th, while walking around the city of New York, a few Medium notifications started to ping my phone. At first, I thought little of it. Yet the notifications continued to come flooding in. What’s going on here? I thought to myself.

My article had been picked up by Medium’s algorithms.

I starting checking how much money was being made. I was satisfied when it reached $100. Yet to my astonishment, the number just kept rapidly going up each day.

After a period of just 1 week, it had reached a grand total of $1245.

Yes, I was paid $1245 for a single hour of work.
