I don't think we're really disagreeing. Because at no point did I say that you should not protest or that western countries don't have room to improve. Only that there should be a moment of pause to appreciate what western countries offer us.

People talk constantly about the horrible racism and sexism present in western countries. But by what metric are they weighing it against? They're comparing western countries to imaginary utopias that do not exist (and have never existed).

If somebody declares the UK a "racist country", then they have to do the same for every other country on earth. Because there are no countries less racist than western ones.

Maybe western countries are actually fantastic places. And maybe that's why you decided to move to one in the first place. And maybe we should appreciate that a little more instead of talking as though we live in some kind of horrible sexist, racist place.

I can't speak for France, but the UK and the USA are constantly bashing, criticising and self-flagilating themselves for their evil past. This should be applauded. Very few other countries are willing to talk about the bad parts of their history.
