I think Germany is unique in that the education system focuses a lot on the bad parts of its history. In most countries, the negative parts of history are ignored.

The British empire and the Dresden bombings and so on were not included in the school curriculum when I was at school. Then again, I'm not even sure we had any lessons on the Holocaust either. It's not really appropriate to teach teenagers about such horrific events.
