It seems that a post-truth world os inevitable. Capitalism simply isn’t a good system for delivering accurate information.

The problem is, accurate information often doesn’t sell. Because accurate information is often boring and confusing.

Human beings are evolved to understand narratives, not statistics. For millennia, we’ve explained the world around us through stories. And the majority will continue to do so.

In the internet age, each individual has different narratives in their head. Entirely different world views that were created largely by filter bubbles on the internet. (Just consider the rising popularity of flat-earthers)

Academic articles? Accurate statistics? Science? If it doesn’t fit in with their narrative, they tune it out.

And big money is ready to be made for anybody who can feed each individual information and opinions that fit in with their narrative. The flat earthers, the anti-vaxxers, big money is being made feeding these narratives too.

It seems to me, that a post-truth world is inevitable. And honestly, it’s scary.
