The algorithms of Facebook and Google (who also own Youtube) personalise our search results. I have strong doubt s about that study that says filter bubbles (online echo chambers) aren’t affecting us.
I know for certain that Youtube’s recommend videos pulls people into rabbit holes of extreme viewpoints.
Filter bubbles not only separate people into groups, but also amplify them. They cause viewpoints to become more and more extreme.
That’s why there’s such an outbreak of political polarisation across the whole world at the same time. Usa. Britain. France. Germany. Brazil. They’re all connected by the internet.
