It DOES matter. A lot! If it came out of a lab we need to do everything in our power to make sure the same thing never happens again.

Not doing so could literally mean the end of human civilisation, and that isn't an exaggeration. It's extremely important.

Also, the reason for the lack of evidence is because of the cover up of what happened. The Chinese government, as well as western governments deprived us of the chance to investigate what happened.
