One Concept The Left Simply Doesn’t Understand

The better things are, the worse they seem

“The amount of violations of human rights in a country is always an inverse function of the amount of complaints about human rights violations heard from there. The greater the number of complaints being aired, the better protected are human rights in that country.” — Daniel Patrick Moynihan

The better things are, the worse they seem. This is Moynihan’s law.

In other words, the more free and accepting a country is, the more complaining you will hear from those inside it.

This is a concept the radical left simply doesn’t understand.

Sexism

The left loves to talk about how western countries are male dominated patriarchies. Listen to enough leftist rhetoric, and you might conclude that countries like the USA, the UK, France and Australia are horrifically sexist places.

Yet the reason there’s so much discussion of sexism in these countries is because our culture is open and interested in talking about the subject in the first place.

Other countries that are more patriarchal, Saudi Arabia, Iran or perhaps even Japan, are more sexist and therefore you hear less discussion of sexism inside these countries.
