One explanation is that human-beings aren't naturally inclined to show sympathy towards men.

Evolutionarily, men are more expendable. So people simply don't "feel" like they care about the struggles of men. This would explain why movements protecting women and children are widely accepted, while men's movements are shunned and ignored.
