Something about the medium of text, that removes the appearance, facial expressions and body language of a person can allow people’s words to carry a sense of authority; even when this individual has no right acting as an authority figure.

If we could see the author of these “self-help” articles, we may be able to make a better judgement as to whether to follow their advice or not.
