That certainly is the dominant narrative right now. Unfortunately it simply isn’t true.

Apparently people aren’t particularly well educated on evolutionary psychology. Over millions of years, the brains of men and women evolved to be good at different things.

Certainly, plenty of women engage in those roles. But what we’re talking about is averages. Across all cultures men and women tend to pick certain careers.

If you follow the theories of evolutionary psychology, this makes perfect sense and is entirely expected. The idea that men and women are just blank slates that are socially conditioned from birth is totally false.

If people only every talk about the “nuture” aspects of the aspect of gender in the workplace — then they’re only looking at one side of the coin. In feminist circles looking at the “nature” aspects is taboo. Even though they’re the most important aspects to consider.
