You may have noticed the latest life-ruining technology to hit our smartphones recently.
The new Tiktok filter transforms the ugly into the beautiful. Everyone using the filter looks beautiful. And unlike previous filters that glitched when waving your hand in front of your face, this one works flawlessly.
In other words, it’s close to impossible to see whether the person you’re looking at is using a filter or not.
There has been uproar — people claiming it creates unrealistic beauty standards, people claiming it’s dangerous for our mental health (especially that for teenagers) and people calling for it to be banned.
All of these things are true, and yes, the filter should be banned.
But if you think the new Tiktok filter is bad, you need a reality check. You have absolutely no idea what other new technology is coming down the pipeline.
You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet
What’s coming next? Well, here goes…
It is my belief that this new Tiktok filter is just one small baby step on our way our inevitable end destination — a perfect second world. This perfect digital world will be layered over all of our civilisation, which we will see through the use of Augmented Reality (AR) glasses or contact lenses.
In other words: We will walk around wearing permanent beauty filters.
In our future society, wearing AR glasses (or contact lenses) will be the norm.
You will walk around the city looking at digital advertisements floating in the air around you. These advertisements will be personalized directly to your tastes using data collected about you.
