The problem is that we have entered a period of post-truth. Confirmation bias is out of control, at least 70% of people believe: 1. What feels good 2. What their political team believes.

People will choose whatever data suits their narrative. The mainstream media has been proven completely unreliable and extraordinarily bias on multiple occasions.

There is nowhere to turn to for truth. Instead of a reliable source of truth, individuals are forced to rely on pattern recognition - making an aggregated guess about what the truth is based on multiple information sources.

If you think it’s bad now, just wait until deepfakes become indistinguishable from reality. This “infopocalypse” as author Nina Schick puts it, is inevitable and has no solution.

The truth is now decided based on who shouts the loudest.
