The village model sounds good. It's also what you tend to get in Asian countries; grandparents stay at home with the rest of the family and are less often sent off to nursing homes.

Perhaps this is a good model. Having said that, if people don't have children, it will be a village filled with old people, and a few younger people trying to take care of them all.
