There is a major problem with this idea.

Sugar is highly addictive. When you say “It’s ok to have a bit of sugar when you feel like it”, you encourage people to get hooked on it.

You don’t feel like eating chocolate because it’s “comfort food” or because “You just feel like it”. You feel like eating chocolate because it’s crammed full of sugar and sugar is incredibly addictive.

In the middle of an obesity epidemic I don’t like the idea that it’s ok to to junk food. Not even occasionally. Occasionally usually turns into often. Because it’s addictive.

And sugar addicts will use the kind of ideas presented in this article to continue to justify their sugar consumption. Because that’s what addicts to. They self-justify.

This is a feel-good article. We wish it was true, but it’s not.
