Unfortunately, I would say in our culture, today, the most esteemed fields are generally the ones that bring in the most cash.
I don't think people look up to male high school teachers. And I don't think people even really look up to doctors that much anymore.
The most esteemed professions in my view are: Entrepreneurs, lawyers and those in tech, as well as athletes, musicians and actors/actresses (but only if they're wildly successful)
I don't see a gender imbalance here. Do male plumbers get esteem? How about the man fixing your power lines, is he held up by society?
It's not based on gender, it's based on capitalism and money.
